Moving into Olde Burien
It's seems crazy to us but this photo was taken three years ago when we moved into our tiny Seahurst shop! Now we are about to close this chapter and move on to our next adventure in Olde Burien - 901 SW 152nd! We will be closed for a couple weeks while we {p a t i e n t l y} wait for our new home to be completed. We have some really fun surprises in store so we know it will be worth the wait. Watery little miracles
We can't stop looking at these stunning little masterpieces! First glance may trick the eye into seeing a photo but closer inspection reveals so much more! It's water-soluble oils and gouache that Kelly has mastered to portray the beauty of water and reflected light. Kelly says, "The waters and skies surrounding Bainbridge Island and the San Juan archipelago of Washington State provide me with endless inspiration for my landscape-based paintings. My work combines bold color and loosely applied paint to emulate the poetic interaction of sunlight on the water’s surface as well as the abstract qualities of clouds and sky."We first met Kelly way back during summer swimming days at Olympic View swim club (circa 1990's). She was a stand-out in swimming and pretty much everything else! While she was studying at the University of Washington she worked for me and that's when I first became aware that she was an artist. Alicia was blown away after a recent visit to Kelly's studio on Bainbridge Island and this collaboration was born!
