First Friday in August
Join us for First Friday fun on August 2; 5 - 8:00 pm!
Burien "First Fridays" are truly becoming the festive summer stroll that was envisioned by it's creators! Join the fun from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, August 2 and listen to the music (B-Town Beat), view the art and enjoy the special events in each Burien business. We will be making paper flowers at Paper Delights and offering a refreshing summer cocktail! At 8:00 pm the shops will close and we'll all head down to the Town Square Park to watch the Burien Actors' Theater presentation of Shakespeare's "The Importance of Being Ernest". Don't miss out!
Artist's Open House
Open House Friday, June 21 at our Burien Shop featuring artist, Kelly Johnston.
Bring a friend and drop by our Burien shop (901 SW 152nd St, Burien) on Friday, June 21; 5:00 - 8:00pm. Kelly will be on hand along with some of her original paintings, prints and all the new greeting cards featuring her art! We'll have sips and bites to add to the festivity! This is a great opportunity to meet this talented artist and enjoy her authentic creations of and from the Pacific Northwest.
We love this beautiful painting that Kelly Johnston created for us! After visiting her studio/gallery on Bainbridge Island (kellyjohnstonart.com) last summer we fell in love with her unique style of painting water. We sent her a photo we had taken from Seahurst toward Vashon and the Olympics and asked her to put her amazing swirling waters into our setting. We love the result and find that the painting affects us differently during the changing light of the day. From a distance it resembles a photo, but viewing it up close reveals an almost Gaudy-type effect.
Some of you may remember Kelly as Kelly Hogan. She grew up in Normandy Park, attending Mt. Rainier High School (class of '95) and swimming at Olympic View Swim Club. As an excellent student and outstanding swimmer, many of us were unaware that she was also a budding young artist! We hope you'll join us
Moving into Olde Burien
It's seems crazy to us but this photo was taken three years ago when we moved into our tiny Seahurst shop! Now we are about to close this chapter and move on to our next adventure in Olde Burien - 901 SW 152nd! We will be closed for a couple weeks while we {p a t i e n t l y} wait for our new home to be completed. We have some really fun surprises in store so we know it will be worth the wait. Please watch your emails for news of the Grand Opening Festivities! Thanks to all for your support! We look forward to seeing you in our new-to-us historic building!
